Premier League: Rio Ferdinand Suggests Manchester United to Sign One More Player

The transfer market officially closes on August 31, 2021. Several clubs are reportedly actively moving to get targeted players, including Manchester United.

The club nicknamed The Red Devils has only brought in three new players so far. Starting from Tom Heaton who was recruited for free from Aston Villa, then Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund) and most recently Raphael Varane (Real Madrid).

All three cost 125 million euros. It's big enough especially in the era of a pandemic like now. However, it seems, Manchester United do not want to stop moving and are still looking for opportunities to recruit new players.

The problem is, Manchester United has not earned a penny from the departure of its players. The most likely to make money is Jesse Lingard who West Ham has been eyeing until now.

Perhaps, Manchester United will not try to recruit new players again until Lingard is sold. But Rio Ferdinand as a former player hopes that one more figure can be brought in in the near future.

He hopes the next Manchester United signing is a midfielder. He believes that Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez has the right profile for the Red Devils' midfield.

"I think if the right player is available for the right price, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will go after him," he told YouTube channel FIVE.

"The problem is who is out there and fits in? Saul Niguez would be a perfect fit and his asking price a few years ago was £160m, now it looks like £40-50m."

Another player that Ferdinand feels is suitable to fill Manchester United's midfield is Declan Rice. But he believes that signing Rice is not an easy matter, because West Ham are desperately trying to keep him.

"I think Declan Rice can be a great addition to this squad. I am a big fan of him. I want to see him continue to grow," said Ferdinand again.

"He's been brilliant for England this summer. I think if West Ham can keep him, they've done very well. I think he will do well if he stays at West Ham or leaves."

Declan Rice was an important actor in England's success in reaching the final round of Euro 2020. Unfortunately, the Three Lions failed to emerge as champions because they lost at the hands of Italy on penalties.
