Manchester United have confirmed the signings of Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton in this summer's transfer window. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is satisfied with his squad, but has not ruled out the possibility that new signings will come before the transfer window closes.
Manchester United's 5-1 victory in the inaugural match against Leeds United became an important provision for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to challenge the reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City.
Jadon Sancho has been relegated though from the second half. Raphael Varane who is also a new recruit is expected to be ready to make his debut this weekend.
Solskjaer said he was satisfied with Manchester United's transfer maneuvers so far, but did not rule out recruiting several more players. "Anything from now on is a bonus."
"I have to say that with the two signings we have we have strengthened the place we wanted to strengthen. Let's see what happens. You never know in football. Anything can happen, inside and out," said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer again. .
Raphael Varane has undergone training with Manchester United starting Tuesday (17/8/2021) local time. This is the first time the French defender has participated in an official training session.
He joined other defenders such as Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof. Eric Bailly, who was given more vacation time after participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, has also joined.
Manchester United will face Southampton at St. Mary Stadium. Currently the Red Devils occupy the 2021/2022 Premier League standings, followed by Chelsea and Liverpool, and West Ham.
