Julian Nagelsmann is grateful for Bayern Munich's draw against Borussia Moenchengladbach. Gladbach was able to trouble Bayern throughout the game.
Bayern failed to win in the 2021/2022 Bundesliga opener. The defending Bundesliga champions were held 1-1 by Borussia Moenchengladbach at Borussia Park, Saturday (14/8/2021) early morning WIB.
Die Roten even had to fall behind quickly when the game had only been running for 10 minutes. It happened after Alassane Plea could break into Manuel Neuer's goal. Bayern then could only equalize in the 42nd minute through a notch Robert Lewandowski.
In this match, Bayern did face fierce resistance from Gladbach. Adi Hutter's troops were able to trouble Die Bavaria through their quick counter-attack.
Bayern is more dominant in launching attacks. They had 15 shots with nine on goal.
However, Gladbach was able to steal several times to threaten the Bayern goal. They made eight shots with four on target.
Reflecting on this, the Bayern coach, Julian Nagelsmann, assessed that a draw was a fair result for both teams. Although, he was still disappointed that he failed to win in his first official match with Bayern.
"You're never satisfied when you don't win. There were a lot of chances for both sides. We were a bit lucky towards the end of the game. After the break, Gladbach was lucky when we had a lot of chances," Nagelsmann was quoted as saying on Bayern's official website.
"Overall, it was quite fierce. It was a tense match. The quarter hour after the break showed that we were able to create a lot of chances, but we should have scored again."
"In the end, a draw is a fair result. We faced a good opponent. In attack, we need to have a bit of positional stability to have a better pattern. We are already aware that we still have room to improve," he said.
