Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti warns Gareth Bale. Bale must prove himself if his position does not want to be shifted by other players.
Bale returns to Madrid after spending last season at Tottenham Hotspur on loan. One season with Tottenham, Bale scored 16 goals and provided three assists in all competitions.
Bale is on loan at Tottenham after being left out during Madrid's coach Zinedine Zidane. The Wales international is now ready to turn over a new leaf after Zidane is no longer in charge of Madrid.
Ancelotti has seen positive signals from Bale since returning to Madrid. Now he hopes Bale can prove it on the pitch.
"He is a great player, maybe he hasn't lived up to expectations in recent times, but I've seen him train every day with great enthusiasm and we have to see how he plays. The proof has to be on the pitch," said Ancelotti as reported by AS.
"There is competition, if a player doesn't play well, there are other players (who can replace). This is good, that's extra motivation."
"But he was very good in the first month after coming back, but we'll see how he performs on the pitch," said Ancelotti.
Bale has only appeared once in Madrid's two pre-season friendly matches. He had the opportunity to score against AC Milan, but his penalty failed.
Bale himself had a slick record during Ancelotti's first spell at Madrid in 2013-2015. Bale scored 27 goals and assisted 24 in 57 appearances over two seasons in La Liga.
Real Madrid will start LaLiga 2021/2022 by traveling to Deportivo Alaves headquarters on Sunday (15/8/2021). Gareth Bale is predicted to be one of Ancelotti's mainstays on the front lines of Los Blancos.
